Anti-snap cylinders stop burglars in their tracks - it takes a couple minutes to change your lock to avoid it! Lock Snapping is used in 27% of burglaries in parts of the UK! This excellent euro cylinder is for anyone wanting high level security at a low cost. Why choose an Anti-snap lock? Burglars use tools like mole grips to twist & break handle backplates to expose the end of the lock. The weakest point on a euro cylinder is the area around the middle fixing screw & if too much lock protrudes from the door it can be clamped, twisted & broken in a simple action. The burglar is able to insert something into the lock & turn the locking point to open the door. It's simple & fast and is a common attack method. Anti-snap cuts are designed into the lock 15mm from the end. When force is applied to the end of the lock, it breaks at the anti-snap shear line. This lock still allows you to use your key even though it's shorter the lock & handle will need replacing. What size do you need? Removing existing cylinder 1, Put your key in the lock & open the door. 2, Remove the screw which is beneath the latch. 3, Turn the key while apply slight pressure to the opposite end of the cylinder. As you do so the cam will line up with the rest of the lock & you'll be able to slide the cylinder out towards yourself. The key needs to be turned approx. 25ยบ clockwise or anti-clockwise. Measuring the existing lock On the side of the lock, under the cam, you'll see a Fixing Hole. The size required is determined by the distance from each edge of the cylinder to the centre of the fixing hole.* Measure from the end of the cylinder to the centre of the Fixing Hole, to give the first measurement (a) * Measure from the centre of the Fixing Hole to the other end of the cylinder, to give the second measurement (b) If you measured 35mm & 45mm, or 45mm & 35mm, then choose is 35/45.
